Yesterday, August 4th, I had my first MRI since I began treatment! I wasn't very optimistic going into it, because the doctors told me not to expect to be able to see anything due to the swelling from the radiation. It turns out, they tell everyone that so you don't expect to know what your results are until four or more months after you finish radiation just in case your swelling goes down really slowly. When I saw my Oncologist this morning (August 5th) she was really excited to see me! She showed me the tumour on my old MRI and on my new MRI. She showed me how it had reduced in size and didn't show up with contrast anymore, which means it is well on its way to being dead, and it's shrinking!
Sorry that I haven't had an update in a while, it's been a busy summer and the last round of chemo took a surprising amount of wind out of my sails. I start my next round of chemo on the 8th - I was supposed to start today but I wanted to go camping this weekend and didn't want to spend the whole time sick, and my doctor said that three days wasn't going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things. She'd much rather I live my life. She's also going to find a way to work around my Mexico vacation in October! I'm lucky to have such a great team of doctors. I also started doing physio and hopefully, I'll be able to recover my vision and balance! Things are looking pretty good.
I'm happy to get some good news because I have been so stressed and worked up about this whole thing. Here's hoping that all future news is good news.
